Flying Wallendas
I was offline for about 36 hours and returned to discover Nik Wallenda was
doing a tightrope walk across the Grand Canyon. I was surprised to find a
fair amount of mockery about it on the internets. Not to mention,
nitpicking over the actual location of the walk. Does it really matter if Wallenda
crossed above the Grand Canyon on Navajo land?

has left Hong Kong and is on a circuitous journey to an undisclosed

Hong Kong has not complied with the US’s extradition order, which requested

Deric Longden: R.I.P. A Funny and Caring Man Who Shared All
This weekend Annie’s stepfather Deric Longden sadly passed away.
Deric was a bestselling writer, a journalist, broadcaster, screenplay
writer, after-dinner speaker and a lover of all people and animals. Who

caring for his first wife Diana, who suffered with ME and his second wife

in 2012, of assets minus liabilities per adult person in each given
country. These are median numbers, the point at which half the population

Saddam's Hangman Assassinated
Iraq's outlawed Baath Party has claimed responsibility for executing the
masked man (in the blue shirt) who placed the noose over Saddam Hussein's
head.
The hangman, identified as Mohhamed Nassif al-Maliki, was apparently
tracked down to a city southwest of Baghdad and then killed.

My views of Alberta's Conservative government were formed decades ago when
the issue of mandatory infant car seats came up in the legislature. Car
seats - for kids - huge controversy, really.
Conservative members were quite outspoken. Alberta motorists didn't need

Will summer camp make my kids rich?
Paul Krugman, commenting on my recent article, thinks it is noteworthy that
the rich have increased their spending on child enrichment programs. To
me, that is not a surprise. The incomes of the rich have risen, and this
category of spending, like many others, has a positive income elasticity.
I am a parent of three, and as far as I know, Paul does not have any
children. So I have probably spent a lot more on this category than he
has. And I can report that much of it is consumption, not investment.
