upheaval that is now going on in Egypt....When I first saw that Egypt was

Republicans Hope To Learn How An Anti-Hispanic Reactionary Wins In A Majority-Hispanic New Mexico House District
After giving up his House seat to run a losing battle for an open
Republican Senate seat in New Mexico, Stevan Pearce was reelected to his
former House seat two years later (2010) by defeating, 55-44%, a very weak
Blue Dog Democrat Harry Teague, who had depressed Democratic turnout by
voting with the GOP on too many critical issues. Last year Pearce beat
another weak Democrat 59-41%, winning 14 of the 19 counties in the
district, although losing the big prize, Dona Ana, by far the biggest

Quick Project XIII Update!
I spoke with Caleb this morning and he gave me this picture of the Windows
Desktop Project XIII app. He expects this will be ready for release in 2-3
weeks. It works now but the layout of it has to be adapted to the PC
format and screen shape and way of doing things. Apparently its a fairly
simple translation from the Windows Phone version.

Crock pot bread.
Greased bowl on top of a trivet inside of slow cooker. No two recipes ever
the same. This one has water or veg stock, spelt flour, oatmeal, cracked
barley, brewer's yeast, sesame seeds, sea salt, a duck egg, yeast, honey --
practically no-knead, raised in the crock pot on low, then basted with
olive oil and sprinkled with poppy seeds. Bake on high until it looks right
and "thumps" right, then turn out. In our pot, about three hours. We slip a
fork under the edge of the lid to let the steam out in the last two hours
or so. Makes fabulous French toast.

David Bowie has never particularly been known for being either angry or
political in his music. But in "Running Gun Blues," his powerful 1970 song
about Vietnam, Bowie got very angry and very political.
Released only a year after the My Lai Massacre became widely known to the
U.S. public, "Running Gun Blues" depicts the frightening image of a
bloodthirsty soldier on the loose in Vietnam. The song appeared on Bowie's
excellent (but poor-selling) The Man Who Sold the World.

The RCAF has determined it doesn't require permission from civilian
authorities to fly its drones through domestic airspace, according to a
2011 briefing note obtained by David Pugliese. The US, Europe, and Israel
require civilian oversight but Canada does not.
Having leased some Heron drones for use in Afghanistan from Israel, the
world's largest drone manufacturer, the Cons want to purchase 18 UAVs for
$1.5-billion plus.

Word has it they're Vietnamese. Not that many around here can discern the
subtleties of southeast Asian nationalities.
We grew familiar with them scouring the flats of Nanoose bay, opposite the
"hush hush" naval installation, on the low tides for clams and oysters and

we could see them poring over the sea bed with their spades and buckets.

Israel Wants Amended Deal on American Arms
Israel and the U.S. are renegotiating their 30-billion dollar weapons
(military aid) deal. Israel wants a clause in the amended deal that
commits the U.S. to maintaining Israel's QME or "qualitative military edge."
They won't come out and say it in so many words but Israeli officials want
America to ensure that Israel gets the latest and greatest U.S. weaponry,
not its Arab neighbours.

own 'About the BBC' blog....

JP Morgan Chase is laying off 475 mortgage-related employees in North Texas
as fewer customers need help with troubled loans, the bank said today.
The local job cuts are part of a previously-announced companywide workforce
reduction in mortgage banking. In February, JP Morgan said it would cut
13,000 to 15,000 workers over the next year.
