perception of the comet ISON, including saying it plunged into the Sun,
disintegrated into snowballs, yet we know it rounded the Sun and still
exists, and is perhaps even teleporting short distances, which causes
critics to think NASA is withholding footage of its flight path. Could it
be they just don't have footage of the intermediate points on the flight

November saw Iraq’s oil exports recover after two months of work to
facilities in Basra. Both the southern and Kirkuk pipelines witnessed nice
increases. Despite that the country’s exports are at a 21-month plateau
overall, which many analysts and industry sources believe will continue
into 2014.
Last month saw a return for Iraq’s two export pipelines. November’s average
was 2.381 million barrels a day. That was up from 2.253 million in October.
At $103 per barrel that rate brought in $7.3 billion for the month. The

Greenfield's debut novel, *2121*. What Helen has to say about the prose and

Still Hoping to Save the Filibuster
Yes, this is most certainly futile: Republicans aren't going to do it, and
most people who care don't want it to happen anyway. But I'd like to see
the filibuster saved and I think it's not only possible but actually in the
interest of all Senators, so I'll push on with it.

BLESSINGS IN UKRAINE FOR ALL
I've been trying to follow the situation in Ukraine. I don't have good
sources about Ukraine but I know that some people living there read this
blog. I would ask them to share with me their thinking about the conflict
in Ukraine.
My present take is that the Ukrainian government is corrupt and heavy
handed. The expanding NATO juggernaut is creating instability in places
like Finland, Ukraine and Georgia. The NATO-capitalist class wants
everything...we know that.....so in the competition for market and resource

The Depeche Mode double platinum award for *Violator* is very nice-- and I
hope you're the winner. It isn't something anyone can buy in a store, no
matter how rich they are. Very few of this particular RIAA plaque were ever
made, basically just for the band members and a few of their colleagues.
The double platinum (for achieving 2 million) is ultra-rare; by the time it
was delivered, the record had already sold 3 million. Eventually the album
sold 15 million.

The charge that the BBC might be deliberately sanitising its coverage of
the trial of the alleged murderers of Lee Rigby (in an attempt to reduce
anti-Muslim sentiment) is about as serious a charge as you could possibly
make against the corporation - and it's one that shouldn't be made lightly.
And yet the signs that the BBC *is* sanitising the story continue to emerge
each day.
