Everything you need to know about the Sochi Olympics

KenInNY at DownWithTyranny! - 27 minutes ago
*You see Sochi all the way over on the Caucasian (i.e., bad) side of the Black Sea. In the breakup of the former Soviet Union, Russia lost the choice parts of the Evil Empire's Black Sea frontage -- including Odessa and the Crimean peninsula (where Sebastopol and Yalta are) -- to Ukraine, so since then it has had to make do.* *by Ken* My first idea was to run the above post head and then leave this space blank -- ha-ha! I mean, you don't *need* to know *anything* about the Winter Olympics, do you? Then I would have added the assurance that, as with most things, this too would pass... more »

Deco Labels - Rob Ford and Doug Ford's Inherited Business Empire

Last year, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford raised quite a few eyebrows last year by declaring on the radio that the best gift to get a woman is money. *"Women love money. Give ‘em a couple thousand bucks and they are happy,"*he said on radio in December 2013. Councillor Doug Ford concurred with his brother. "Well, all my girls love money. So do men. Everyone loves money," Doug said with a laugh. The Ford brothers, who consistently like to portray themselves as "regular folks" and "working class" to voters, are actually worth millions from their company, *Deco Labels*, which they inherited fr... more »

How Long Will This Economic Holocaust By the Uber-Wealthy Go On? How Long Will We Allow It To?

Conservative Justice Secretary Chris Grayling has been quoted in some of the newspapers today for his criticism of the BBC. Some of the coverage make it sound as if he savaged the BBC - which he didn't; in fact, he was rather charitable towards the corporation. (Rather *too* charitable I'd say.) This then is what Mr Grayling actually said: I think the real problem for the BBC is not that there is an intentional bias at senior levels, not that it is institutionally biased against us.
