Weather Channel Founder John Coleman: There is no significant man-made global warming at this time

John Coleman, the founder of Weather Channel, has written an open letter, in which he claims the theory of anthropogenic climate change is no longer scientifically credible. So far The Express, a major British newspaper, and the American news service WND, have provided favorable coverage of the letter. The Express article has also been linked to by the Drudge Report, giving it wide exposure.

In a loss to posterity, my quip at http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/10/22/claim-recently-discovered-arctic-microbe-is-key-player-in-climate-change/#comment-1769837 was not accepted for posting

How come everything is a “powerful greenhouse gas”? There are no wimpy greenhouse gases?

Absolutely. As I recall Popeye, Wimpy loved hamburgers. We are to die from cow farts.

But. if you insist on taking speculation seriously, try Richard Petschauer Oct 23 7:27pm

..... If CO2 and hydrogen combine to form methane (CH4), this must be a cooling a process because if we do the reverse and burn CH4 (which is basically the same as natural gas) by combining it with oxygen, heat is generated. So energy must be required to do the reverse. So this cools the surface. Then if the CH4 rises in the atmosphere and later combines with oxygen or ozone, heat is generated at this place. While part of this heat wil increase the surface temperature and partially offset the original cooling, the remaining increases the heat being radiated to outer space.

"If you torture the data long enough, it will confess." -Ronald Harry Coase From the WUWT post "Weather Channel Founder John Coleman: There is no significant man-made global warming at this time," a comment and link demonstrates that all of the alleged global warming including average, minimum, and maximum surface temperature ...

“Have you ever seen a sun pillar? When the air is cold and the Sun is rising or setting, falling ice crystals can reflect sunlight and create an unusual column of light. Ice sometimes forms flat, six-sided shaped crystals as it falls from high-level clouds. Air resistance causes these crystals to lie nearly flat much of the time as they flutter to the ground. Sunlight reflects off crystals that are properly aligned, creating the sun-pillar effect. * Click image for larger size.* In the above picture taken last week, a sun-pillar reflects light from a Sun setting over Östersund, Swed... more »

Who is Vladimir Putin? A monster? In our years at this site, we’ve done a lot of work on the way the press corps has covered presidential campaigns. Dating to 1972, the track record is heinous, especially for Democrats, a point we expect to explore in the next few weeks. (For forty-two years, the liberal world has just sat there and tolerated this nonsense.) We’ve also covered the coverage, or the non-coverage, of certain policy issues. Russia And China Are Sprinting To Catch Up With The US's Advanced Submarine Fleet

Ko Savonije at Naval Open Source INTelligence - 19 hours ago
[image: Amur 1650 class SSK]US national security officials are concerned about the pace and intensity of Russian submarine development, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jon Greenert said Thursday. "There are competitors that are pursuing us. We know about China. That is very well spelled out, but not as many people know what the Russians are up to. I can't go into detail, obviously, but they spend a lot of money. The Russians have been working on a sea-based strategic deterrence — and an SSN (attack submarine)," Greenert said at the Naval Submarine League's annual symposium in Falls ... more »

The most fearsome beast in the political jungle is you, the voter. Now is the time to wake up and roar!

Jake at Ripped-off Britons - 20 hours ago
A long game is being played on the British public by the political classes. It is a game aimed at reducing our personal expectations from life in Britain. It started with the Tories in 1979, and continued through Labour and Coalition governments since then.  The game was played quite subtly until the banker induced crash in 2008, but since then all the delicacy has been dropped. Not because the

The 'Guardian' attacks the BBC

According to the *Time*s, The Guardian has accused the BBC of overstepping its public service remit in an attempt to dominate global news. Andrew Miller, the chief executive of Guardian Media Group, said that the BBC’s plans to expand aggressively overseas is putting it in competition with British media groups that do not enjoy its public funding. “In our fast-changing industry, the time has come to address and remedy the implications of BBC dominance,” he said in a speech at the London School of Economics last night. Executives at other media companies said that Mr Miller’s comme... more »

Looking at the various news websites this morning (6.30am), it's interesting to see their contrasting news priorities. Sky News and ITV both lead with the latest school shootings in the U.S., a story BBC News doesn't feature in its top 10. The BBC leads with the resignation of Labour's Scottish leader. Politically, the most striking difference is that both Sky and ITV make Tony Blairs alleged negative remarks about Ed Miliband [the lead in the *Daily Telegraph*] one of their top 3 stories, while the BBC website ignores the story - which will doubtless provoke a few knowing 'aha!'s ... more »

Many interacting worlds approach is an original, equally flawed cousin of Bohmian mechanics

All the major "realist" attempts to reform the foundations of quantum mechanics – de Broglie-Bohmian mechanics, Ghirardi-Rimini-Weber-like collapse theories, and Everett-style many worlds – are known to suffer from serious diseases. To a large extent, "realism" itself is the problem. *Off-topic, physics:* In Physics World, Sylvester Jim Gates Jr explains why he is Sticking With SUSY.
