I have been staring at my computer screen, trying to figure out how to describe the amazing day we had, and how to express my feelings about what we're creating together. Not an easy task. Plus, you all keep posting awesome pics and vids to Facebook and YouTube and getting me distracted!! *Good Morning, City Hall!* More than 50 members gathered at the VIP parking entrance to welcome the City brass on their way to work. Apparently Janice Baker was among them! I was home responding to members' questions, but I heard it was really LOUD and really FUN. Then, sometime later, I got a cal... more »

America's Longest War Isn't Ending... Not As Long As It Continues To Feed Endemic Corruption

Congressional Progressive Caucus co-chairs Keith Ellison and Raúl Grijalva issued a statement after Obama's press conference on Afghanistan: "We are disappointed with today’s announcement that the Department of Defense will keep 8,400 troops in Afghanistan through the end of the year. Does the longest war in U.S. history-- nearly 15 years long-- have an end in sight? Peace in Afghanistan will only come through a comprehensive solution that does not rely on our military, but puts more emphasis on diplomatic political engagement, capacity development, and humanitarian relief. July 8: A_A_A_A_no Quebec beer?

Graeme Decarie at The Decarie Report - 1 hour ago
Today's front page of the Irving press is gripping. A bold headline drops the bombshell of the day. The provinces are close to an initerprovincial trade deal. But it WON'T include beer. Badly shaken, I turned to the next story. "Toddler meets national defence minister." But even that takes a back seat to a big photo of a little litle girl sitting in a car and holding the steering wheel just as if she were driving. And there's a big story about that below it. And who says Moncton doesn't have a city plan? Yesterday, two granite blocks were taken from Main St. so panhandlers wouldn't ... more »

Dear reader, I am 77 years old and still in decent health, so if I were to be on my death bed tomorrow I would still be able to reflect on having had a full and rewarding life. However, the situation that Paul Craig Roberts and I are concerned with could cut short the lives of our children and grandchildren. The very real possibility of this breaks my heart. PCR spelled out in the preceding post the very real danger facing us and our loved ones …all due to our government supporting the plans of a horde of insane neocons and lying to us about their plan to dominate the earth or die in nuclear holocaust. In case you don’t believe us, take a look at today’s REUTERS’ account which I re-post here.

It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Pesticides needed against anti-physics pests

*Their activity got too high in the summer* Some three decades ago, mosquitoes looked like a bigger problem in the summer. Their numbers had to drop or I am spending less time at places where they get concentrated. The haters of physics have basically hijacked the mosquitoes' Lebensraum, it seems. The scum stinging fundamental, theoretical, gravitational, and high-energy physics became so aggressive and repetitive that it's no longer possible to even *list* all the incidents. A week ago, notorious Californian anti-physics instructor Richard Muller – a conman who once pretended to be... more »

Lion Rock 20, Hong Kong's labor welfarism and rising unemployment

Another good article from Bill Stacey, former Chairman of the Lion Rock Institute (LRI) in Hong Kong. Extremely important delay case from Supreme Court

James C Morton at Morton's Musings - 13 hours ago
R. *v.* Jordan, 2016 SCC 27: The *Morin* framework for applying s. 11 (*b*) has given rise to both doctrinal and practical problems, contributing to a culture of delay and complacency towards it. Doctrinally, the *Morin* framework is too unpredictable, too confusing, and too complex. It has itself become a burden on already over‑burdened trial courts. From a practical perspective, the *Morin *framework's after‑the‑fact rationalization of delay does not encourage participants in the justice system to take preventative measures to address inefficient practices and r... more »

Catholic Priest Accuses Tony Blair Of Opening The Gates Of Hell

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair needs to face the consequences of his actions after “opening the gates of hell” in Iraq, says Catholic priest Father Newell in an interview with Vice. Michigan's Upper Peninsula and the Ironies of Tourism

6 July 2016 Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a complex landscape, where environmental, social and economic factors converge, creating a sense of surrealism. Surrounded on three sides by Great Lakes Huron, Michigan and Superior. It feels like an island in a vast ocean, rather than a finger of land protruding into freshwater lakes. Towering sand dunes, long stretches of white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters rival some of the finer Caribbean destinations, and on the sunny day I was there, the shores were crawling with happy beach goers. *“The Geranium”* “When I put her out, once, by the garbage pail, She looked so limp and bedraggled, So foolish and trusting, like a sick poodle, Or a wizened aster in late September, I brought her back in again For a new routine- Vitamins, water, and whatever Sustenance seemed sensible At the time: she’d lived So long on gin, bobbie pins, half-smoked cigars, dead beer, Her shriveled petals falling On the faded carpet, the stale Steak grease stuck to her fuzzy leaves. "I Know..."

"I know the world seems terrifying right now and the future seems bleak. Just remember human beings have always managed to find the greatest strength within themselves during the darkest hours. When faced with the worst horrors the world has to offer, a person either cracks and succumbs to ugliness, or they salvage the inner core of who they are and fight to right wrongs. Never Let hatred, fear, and ignorance get the best of you. Keep bettering yourself so you can make the world around you better, for nothing can improve without the brightest, bravest, kindest, and most imaginative... more »

Chasing Footnotes - Roswell and Original Sources

KRandle at A Different Perspective - 1 day ago
This is another of those posts that chases footnotes and though it begins with Richard Dolan, he is merely the starting point and this isn’t a criticism of his scholarship… well, maybe a little bit but you’ll understand as we get deeper into this. As an aside, and one that is not directed at Dolan here, I wonder how it is that some lies seem to mean nothing in our world of the UFO and simple mistakes are presented as false claims, and yes, this should become clear later as well. No Recording. No Transcript. No Adminstration Of A Sworn Oath For When Hillary Clinton Was Questioned By The FBI On Saturday

War News Updates Editor at War News Updates - 1 day ago
*The Hill:* *FBI didn’t record Clinton interview, did not administer sworn oath* Hillary Clinton did not swear an oath to tell the truth before meeting with the FBI for three and a half hours last weekend, and the interview was not recorded, FBI Director James Comey told House lawmakers on Thursday. The lack of a sworn oath does not remove the possibility of criminal penalties against Clinton if she lied to the FBI, though he said he had “no basis to conclude” that she was untruthful. “Still a crime to lie to us,” Comey told the House Oversight Committee. FBI policy is not to re... more »

Blair's Interventionism

Phil at All That Is Solid ... - 1 day ago
Seven years in the making and the Chilcot Report confirms virtually everything said by the anti-war movement in the lead up to the invasion of Iraq. The conclusion was pre-determined, the intelligence was full of holes, the British military were ill-equipped for an adventure in the desert, it was known beforehand that chaos and terror would be the invasion's children, and last of all it was pointless and unnecessary. As we know, our soon-to-be-ex-Prime Minister acquired a gambling habit that will cost us all dear. But in a way, Dave's deliberate positioning as the heir to Blair, p... more »
