Slade: Really? I am mixed-farm-raised, where we got Grid Electricity
the year I was 14. Before that, we used kerosene lamps, and white
gas-burning Coleman Lanterns for light. We used coal & wood burning
kitchen stove, plus diesel-fuel burning Coleman heaters to warm our farmhouse.
Some neighbours use the classic water-pumping hi-torque windmill for pumping water, plus had the Wincharger 32V DC System installed.
A Wincharger sends 32V DC out to the farmstead's buildings, plus charges the very large number of 6V lead-acid batteries that fill shelves in 2/3 of the large shed at the base of the Wincharger's Tower. Six batteries in Series, then the series groups linked in parallel, as many batteries as could be afforded, to get enough Plate Area to carry the Farmstead through the 3 No Wind Power conditions.
When that failed, the 32V DC Delco Generator's gasoline engine auto-started, to do the work the wind was not doing.
Some cold evenings, the Delco's engine refused to Auto-start, thus providing Dad & the children opportunity to practise cold start cranking, then sparkplug removal & warmings. On 30-below nights, the engine oil could be warmed by burning some kerosene below the crankcase...

Yes, the Wind Power was so cheap, and reliable, the folk using it quickly changed to the Grid's 110/220 volt, 60-cycle supply, and relaxed. The water-pumping windmill _might_ be retained, if the water storage on farm was large enuf to carry the folk, and the domestic animals, thru the 3 No Windpower Conditions...

have argued since the beginning of the Green "Money Siphon" programs
that a vertical helix would solve most of the problems with windmills.
The West is going to look mighty stupid if this small company from a
small country outperforms their Trillion-dollar government projects. But

day or three ago on my page), it's simply reporting that dropping solar
activity is likely to do what it did during previous "little ice age"
events.

Temperature records from many sources show that average temps haven't increased since '98. AGW supporters argue this isn't true - but it really depends on WHO you believe, and what data set you look at.
