How Will China And Russia Test Donald Trump

*Gordon G. Chang, Daily Beast:* *Here’s How China and Russia Will Test Trump* *China and Russia intend to test—and humble—the America of President Trump. So whatever he thinks now, the new American leader is going to need friends and allies.* Donald Trump’s foreign policy, especially in his first months in office, probably will bear no relation to what he has ever said. Or thought. Why? Trump is unlikely to be driving American policy. Look for Beijing and Moscow to do that. Washington’s moves in the early months probably will be in reaction to these two large authoritarian states... more »

He will be elected governor of the army: The boldness of his contention. The bridge broken, the city faint from fear.” According to experts, the reference to “shameless, audacious bawler” is Donald Trump’s bold style of campaigning. Also, “governor of the army” refers to Trump’s role as commander-i...more »

There was a lot of anger among Trump fans that so many of the GOP incumbents either opposed Trump directly-- the way Mark Kirk (R-IL) did-- or refused to overtly, publicly and enthusiastically back him-- think Pat Toomey waiting until 6pm on election day. This weekend, as we read the unlikely story, given Trump's well-known penchant for revenge, about how the transition team is considering defeated New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte for the Secretary of Defense job, we have to remember that shoe refused to endorse him. Nothing of human origin. It was a couch shell. Our pal, the archaeologist/diver Meghan Heaney-Grier, declared that it was of Incan origin. One important component of sexual assault law is consent. Any sexual touching requires that both parties give their consent or voluntarily agree. Consent is determined by reference to that person's state of mind towards the sexual touching at the time it occurred. “The Veil Nebula is a large supernova remnant, the expanding debris cloud from the death explosion of a massive star. While the Veil is roughly circular in shape covering nearly 3 degrees on the sky in the constellation Cygnus, this portion of the eastern Veil spans only 1/2 degree, about the apparent size of the Moon. That translates to 12 light-years at the Veil's reassuring estimated distance of 1,400 light-years from planet Earth. *Click image for larger size.* In the composite of image data recorded through narrow band filters, emission from hydrogen atoms in the remnant is sho... more »

*CNN*: *Weekend brings more anti-Trump protests across nation* (CNN) As President-elect Donald Trump's administration begins taking shape, thousands poured onto the streets of a divided nation again Saturday to express their frustration at the stunning election result. I need some video of an above-ground nuclear test, shot from the ground, with no watermarks and the original sound with no music or voice-overs. Everything I can find has some problem or other, and the original versions are buried way down the search results by all the crapped-up and promoted copies to the point where I wore out before I could dig that deep. *New York Times*: *Hillary Clinton Blames F.B.I. Director for Election Loss* Hillary Clinton on Saturday cast blame for her surprise election loss on the announcement by the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, days before the election that he had revived the inquiry into her use of a private email server. In her most extensive remarks since she conceded the race to Donald J. Trump early Wednesday, Mrs. Clinton told donors on a 30-minute conference call that Mr. Comey’s decision to send a letter to Congress about the inquiry 11 days before Election Day had thrust the controversy back ... more »

Is The Democrat Party Facing A Grassroots Revolt?

War News Updates Editor at War News Updates - 1 day ago
*The Hill*: *Seething liberals vow revolution in Democratic Party* The Republican civil war was supposed to start this week. Instead, a ferocious struggle has erupted on the left over the smoldering remains of the Democratic Party. Liberals are seething over the election and talking about launching a Tea Party-style revolt. They say it’s the only way to keep Washington Democrats connected to the grassroots and to avoid a repeat of the 2016 electoral disaster, which blindsided party elites. Progressives believe the Democratic establishment is responsible for inflicting Donald Trum... more »

Nigel Farage in 2009 Some of you may recall this from 2009, but seeing a transcript of it in full after all these years has only rekindled my feeling that this was one of the most biased pieces of BBC reporting ever broadcast... ...and it came from Mark Mardell on *Today*, 30th May 2009 (preceding an interview with Nigel Farage at 7.32am). Michael McFaul, a close Clinton ally and former US ambassador to Moscow under President Barack Obama, is the first of many to be banned from entering Russia, according to Russian Foreign Ministry sources. Mr McFaul, US ambassador in Moscow from 2012-2014, said he had learnt of the ban when applying for a visa to Russia last week. Asked what the purpose of his visit was, McFaul sa...more »

Trump: Vaccines Cause Autism And Will Be Investigated

Baxter Dmitry at Your News Wire - 1 day ago
President-elect Donald Trump believes vaccines are responsible for the autism epidemic and he has promised to find out the truth and “save our children and their future” when he takes office in January. Trump dismissed the official claim that there is no link between vaccines and autism, claiming there has been a cover up to suppress the truth and that “nay-sayers will understand soon.” “[W]e’ve had so many instances, people that work for me. Just the other day, two years old, two and a half years old, a child, a beautiful child went to have the vaccine, and came back, and a week ... more »

I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. A mother kicked her 8-year-old son out of his family house – told never to return – because he supports Donald Trump. The day impossible happened

This is something I have pursued for more than twenty-five years. The kind of story that raises the hackles on the back of your neck. There's an immediate urge to dismiss it as preposterous, impossible. Because it is preposterous and impossible. Yet the records are there. A document that tells what happened in deliberately cold and official terms. A field in North Africa during the war. An event that took place that was so impossible the commanding officer at the airfield demanded, and got, the signatures of hundreds of witnesses who saw the whole impossible incident. Canadians might be disappointed to learn that *Welcome to the Goddamn Ice Cube: Chasing Fear and Finding Home in the Great White North* is not about Canada. We sometimes refer to Canada as the Great White North, but the Canada that most Canadians inhabit has little in common with the stark landscapes that author Blair Braverman called home. In the northernmost reaches of Norway or on an Alaskan glacier, these are lands of stark conditions -- brutal cold, perpetual darkness, and little in the way of creature comforts. They are also places of great natural beauty. Often, too, a rough... more »

Is Civil War Brewing in the Democratic Party? A Guest Post By J.C. Peters

For weeks, it appeared the Republican Party was headed for imminent civil war. Eminent Republicans disavowed their own presidential nominee, Senators and Representatives seesawed, there were the #NeverTrumpers and the #RepublicanwomenforHillary. It seemed all but certain that Donald Trump would cause a split within the GOP and start his own party (and media empire) after inevitably losing the election. But after Trump’s stunning victory the shoe is suddenly on the other foot. On Wednesday evening, angry progressive millennials took to the streets in several cities to protest Trump... more »

"Forgiveness"

"People withhold their forgiveness, thinking that it makes them badass. But really, the unwillingness to forgive is merely the wishing that things were better. You wish that you had better, you wish that someone else were better so they could have treated you better... it's you making wishes. And that's not badass. To forgive is to be able to look at the person and say "I accept that you weren't any better than what you were", "I accept what you were you and couldn't have been what I wished you to be", "I accept that things were the way they were and weren't any better."
