If you want to deal with public employee union problem and run-away pensions, simply make it ILLEGAL for a union to give a contribution to a politician that has voting authority over its members salaries...and that will happen when hell freezes over. So long as employee A can give money to union B who gives some of that money to politician C, who votes employee A, a pay raise out of public funds (not his own), there will be problem. I took a ride on the way-back-machine and ancient Rome had a similar problem because it was that very mechanism that Julius Caesar used to secure his ... more »

Slovak crackdown on Italian mafia

Luboš Motl at The Reference Frame - 31 minutes ago
Ján Kuciak, the Slovak analytical journalist who was murdered with his girlfriend, has written about 150 articles for Aktuality.sk in recent two years. Various suspicious Slovak entrepreneurs – who may have committed economic crime that could have been covered by the ruling party – became the suspects immediately. However, the format looks too harsh for any Slovak villains. Cartridges around the corpses and stones around the house seems like a visit from a "different culture". On top of that, there's one article that was much more likely to be linked to the assassination – the uncom... more »

Marxist indoctrination of U.S. schoolchildren now beginning in elementary school… shocking investigation exposes schools as “brainwashing factories”

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 2 hours ago
This is of course, completely unacceptable and seriously annoying. That ideologues brainwashed in our liberal arts campuses should be employable in our education system itself is disturbing. After all this is no different than allowing a bunch of Nazis doing the same thing. It is not ever about free speech but the deliberate suppression of free speech. What this represents though is the cost associated with the establishment of an academic stream of Marxism. All that human investment must express itself in a grab for power. It has to be stopped cold. We no longer allow Nazism t... more »

Abortion is “good medicine” billboards

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 2 hours ago
First though the only reason abortion exists at all is because our civilization happens to be structurally flawed. The mere elimination of poverty alone will naturally cause most abortions to be still born. Social adjustment over a little time will easily eliminate all abortions except were clinically indicated for profoundly flawed babies. Such flaws will also largely disappear as well. We do have control over pregnancy as it is, Birth control by abortion should be mostly a non starter. Yet we also need a civilization eager to support mothers and babies. We are so full of... more »
